The 2001 Quarter was part of the 50 State Quarters Program, which began in 1999 and ran through 2008. This innovative program featured rotating reverse designs honoring each of the 50 states in the order they joined the Union. The year 2001 saw the release of quarters representing the 21st through 25th states to join the Union.

Rarity Factors and Value Drivers
The condition of 2001 Quarters significantly impacts their value, especially for circulation strikes. Coins in uncirculated condition (MS60 and above) command a premium, with those grading MS65 or higher being particularly desirable. For circulation strikes, strong strikes with full detail on the high points of the design are valued.
Proof coins are expected to have sharp details, mirrored fields, and frosted devices. Any imperfections, such as contact marks or haze, can significantly reduce their value. Cameo and Deep Cameo contrasts are highly prized in proof specimens.
